Car insurance claims (Doc. Ist) |
Printable.biz.id – When a car owner files an insurance claim for vehicle repairs, the insurance company will first check several factors.
They need to ensure that the car owner has not violated any applicable regulations. If a violation is found, the claim can be immediately rejected, and the repair costs will not be covered by the insurance.
Laurentius Iwan Pranoto, Head of Communication and Customer Service Management at Asuransi Astra, explained that there are several factors that can lead to an insurance claim being denied.
One of them is if the vehicle was in an overloaded condition at the time of the accident.
“When we talk about overloading, it’s already regulated in each vehicle's manual. For example, a 7-seater vehicle has its own load capacity and weight limit. So we refer to each APM (Authorized Brand Holder Agent),” he said.
According to Iwan, the weight and passenger capacity limits of each vehicle are determined by the manufacturer and stated in the owner's manual.
For example, a 7-seater vehicle has a specific maximum number of passengers and allowable weight.
He emphasized that overloading can be very dangerous. Vehicles carrying excessive weight are more prone to losing balance due to the shift in center of gravity, increasing the risk of accidents.
“So we actually hope our friends traveling during the holiday season take care of themselves and avoid overloading,” Iwan said.
Additionally, the use of roof boxes or extra cargo on top of the vehicle also needs to be considered. If they are too tall or improperly installed, they can disrupt the vehicle’s balance and endanger other road users.
In short, if you want your insurance claim to be accepted and your journey to remain safe, avoid overloading and make sure the vehicle is used according to applicable regulations.
